Nurturing Families Network (NFN) Clinical Supervisor



Location:          East Shore District Health Department, 14 Business Park Drive, Branford, CT  
Reports to:&NFN Program Manager/Public Health Nurse Coordinator
Position Status: Full-Time 

Weekly Hours:  37.5
Affiliation:       Non-Union, Salaried, Exempt Classification                                       

General Statement

The Clinical Supervisor provides daily supervision, support and training to the Home Visitors. They may also provide supervision to the Nurturing Parenting Group coordinators/facilitators and Connection Coordinators. Clinical Supervisor is responsible for management of the program, including staff supervision and training, collaboration with community service providers, client assessments, program evaluation and other managerial matters. This is a position requiring decisions on behalf of the District. Please note, while this is a full-time, benefited position with the Health District, the continued funding for many ESDHD positions, including this position is dependent on grant funds.

 

Distinguishing Characteristics

The NFN Clinical Supervisor is the primary contact person with the NFN Home Visitor of the home visiting program. This person assures the Home Visitor is providing the support and guidance to the families being served by the home visiting program. Work may be performed outside normal business hours, requiring the ability to multi-task and respond to situations promptly, professionally and accurately. Incumbent works under the general supervision of the NFN Program Manager. Works within the framework of applicable policies and procedures and program objectives. Ability to present ideas in an easily understood manner, to use proper judgment and tact, to work within the government structure, and to work with the staff and the Board as a team player. Home visits will be in East Haven and West Haven. Work schedule may/will be outside normal business hours to meet our community needs including evenings and weekends.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct joint home visits with the Home Visitors
  • Ensure and maintain up-to date, complete and confidential client records
  • Facilitate the Professional Development Focus Group and in-service training model
  • Oversee caseloads of the Home Visitors
  • Must participate in 30 hours of training annually
  • Advisory committee participation
  • Ensure Home Visitors have the required training
  • Supervision of the home visiting program
  • Staff supervision and training
  • Develops and maintains community relationships
  • Program evaluation participation
  • Ensures adequate resources for staff
  • Ability to work as a key member and support the District’s management team
  • Decision making, prioritizing and leadership abilities
  • Utilizes Parent as Teacher (PAT) curriculum
  • Represents the district and develops MOU’s between towns and agencies as related to the home visiting program
  • Assists /prepares grant program/expenditure and other reports as required
  • Public health immunization, health education effort and other district related maternal-child health activity

Minimum Qualifications

The Clinical Supervisor is required to hold a Master’s Degree in social work or in a related social science or human services field. They must have previous supervisory and clinical experience working with vulnerable families. Two (2) years supervisory experience is preferred. Bilingual preferred. Prior experience with a municipal and/or non-profit organization is desirable. Background check required.


Licenses; Certifications; Special Requirements

Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license, working vehicle, registration and insurance as required by the state of Connecticut. May be required to obtain additional certification as a result of legislative requirements.


Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office environment and in various community settings with travel to client homes. Work may be performed outside normal business hours to respond to client needs. Ability to reach and bend, and push/pull or lift objects less than twenty (20) pounds. Must be able to drive motor vehicle. May be exposed to bodily fluids, hazardous waste material, toxins, and or poisonous substances.
