ESDHD Provides Whooping Cough Vaccine

Staff at in Branford whom recently received their Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis [also known as whooping cough]) vaccine.

The vaccine is offered from the East Shore District Health Department, which serves Branford, and North Branford as part of a Connecticut Department of Public Health program.

The program known as the ‘Cocooning program’ offers the Tdap vaccine to people who live with or care for children less than 12 months of age.

This effort is to protect the baby from whooping cough, as their bodies have little immunization for whooping cough and cannot fully defend themselves against it until they are older.

For more information please call the East Shore District Health Department at 203-481-4233.
