Please be aware that although we are all snowed in with our families, admiring the snow through windows in our warm houses while we eat breakfast and sip on coffee and hot chocolate, there are a select few individuals that are working hard to try to clear the snow away so that we could all go on with our lives.
The snowplow men and women have been working straight through the night and probably will be working straight through today and tonight to clear the snow away. Please be courteous to the drivers! They have had no sleep and are probably eating stale sandwiches and cold coffee. there is nothing open for them to really refuel themselves.
Especially if you are in a condo, take a minute to survey your situation and if you are able please find your plow guys and offer them something warm to eat or drink. Many are able to use a condo clubhouse if you have them so if its possible to get there, drop off a sandwich or two or something warm with a thank you note. After these long hard hours they are very tired and very sore from the constant turning around. (try backing out of your driveway and pulling back in for 20 plus hours straight!!!! You get the idea).
Always be safe when approaching a truck because it is hard for them to see you. And also please don't ask the drivers for favors like clearing your spot first. There is not a lot of places to put the snow and they have to clear it strategically. And as well the last thing they want to hear is a critic telling them how to do their job. If anything, Thank them! Thank them for there dedication, for the fact that they are missing their families, forgoing sleep, warmth and food so that they can clear the massive amount of snow.
Thank you!
