Branford, CT – On Thanksgiving, nearly 1,000 runners and walkers are expected to participate in the Branford Rotary Y Run and Walk. Proceeds of the event, presented by All American Waste, benefit the Branford Rotary Foundation and the Soundview Family YMCA. The event features a 5K race and Kids Fun run. The 5K starts and finishes at Walsh Intermediate School in Branford. The flat, fast course goes past Young’s Pond and the Pine Orchard Golf Course. After the race, participants are invited to a pre Thanksgiving Day meal with fruit and baked goods.
The Soundview Family YMCA services the towns of Branford, North Branford, East Haven, Guilford, and Madison. With over 8,000 members, the family-oriented facility benefits the shoreline community with programs for all ages, from child care to senior activities. The new 38,000 square foot facility includes two large indoor swimming pools, state of the art exercise areas, computer rooms and a teen center.
The Rotary Club of Branford is a service organization of women and men representing a cross-section of local business and professional leaders, living and/or employed in Branford. Members work as volunteers on a variety of local and international projects to improve the quality of life in their home and world communities, all under the guiding theme and commitment to "Service Above Self."
