CONTEMPORARY JAZZ MUSICIAN STEVE D’AGOSTINO TO PERFORM IN BRANFORD ON JULY 26.
Wherever he has traveled throughout his accomplished music career, veteran jazz entertainer Steve D’Agostino has made the “Great American Songbook” his claim to fame. On Thursday, July 26th, as part of the Branford Jazz 2012 summer concert series on the , this multi-talented musician and vocalist will be performing at 6:30 p.m.
Steve’s journey to a commitment of “expression” through the music and lyrics made popular in the United States and around the world by vocalists such as Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, and Johnny Cash took root a long time ago.
In the early 1980’s, Steve started playing guitar and singing “live” with his first band, “Finesse”. The band experienced quite a following and established themselves as a successful group in Connecticut. As Steve continued to evolve, his voice began to be an essential skill that his band began to rely on.
In addition to regular engagements at some of the finest restaurants and night clubs in Connecticut, Steve’s performing credits include appearances in Las Vegas at The Paris Casino Hotel, Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, The Pequot Room at Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut and The MGM Grand Theatre.
Today, Steve’s 30 years of experience are evident with every performance as he tenderly delivers melodies on ballads or relaxes the placement of a lyric on any “medium” to “up-tempo” swing tune. He continues to honor and maintain the tradition of the Great American Songbook today by humbly interpreting the timeless music and lyrics of Cole Porter, Ira Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer, Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn. Steve’s debut CD was released in 2011 and recorded at Tony Bennett’s studio in Englewood, New Jersey. It is currently on iTunes entitled “A Chapter from the Great American Songbook”.
“This means so much to me to play on the Branford Town Green. It is an extremely high honor to me and the band. I have always considered the Jazz Series to be the New England Showcase for jazz and I am just happy to be a part of it,” said D’Agostino.
