FEMA Presentation Tonight on Changes to Flood Maps

A few things going on in Branford today, Aug. 27.

It's the last official day of summer for Branford's kids, but for us grownups it's business as usual. So what's going on today, Aug. 27, in Branford? Here are a few things:

Connecticut Business Connection

If you're a local business owner looking to connect with other business owners, stop by the Parthenon Diner in Branford for a networking event. It starts at 7:30 a.m.

Rain Showers This Morning

While it may be raining when we start our day, those showers will gave way to sunshine with a mix of clouds throughout the afternoon. The high temperature is forecast to be 83 and winds will blow in a northwest direction at about 10 to 20 miles per hour.

Changes to Flood Maps & Flood Insurance

Representative from FEMA and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection will visit Branford to discuss changes to the flood maps. The meetings begins at 5 p.m., and will take place at the Fire House, 45 North Main St.

"The meeting will allow residents to view the new maps, understand the changes that are taking place to flood insurance rates, and learn more about financial steps that they may need to take to protect their investment," according to an event description on the town's website.
