Route 1 Closed at Exit 53

The severe rain has caused the closure of  Route 1 under the railroad bridge at exit 53 in Branford. At approximately 2:40, officers also changed the light from a regular pattern to a blinking yellow. Officers are administering traffic in and out of Branford through exit 53.

Water on east side of the connector, the entrance to 95 South, is deep, and has the potential to flood low-riding cars.

Seeking alternate routes is advised.
