Branford Police Go Incognito

Stealth PD vehicles will target motorist exhibiting poor driving behavior.

Branford Police have added a second stealth police vehicle to their fleet which will be used specifically for the reduction of car wrecks in the community. The first stealth vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was put into service 12 to 14 months ago.

The vehicle, a 2010 Ford Taurus with subdued police markings, hit Branford’s roadways yesterday being operated by Officer Bryan McGinnis, who is assigned to the department’s traffic squad. Within minutes Officer McGinnis had conducted a motor vehicle stop and issued the operator an infraction for aggressive driving behavior including following to close.

“Over the past several years our Traffic Division has been successful in reducing traffic wrecks by 80 percent along the Route 1 corridor," said Chief John DeCarlo. “This vehicle will give them the ability to keep up our successful mission of making Branford a safer place to drive.”
