Aida: 'The Most Beautiful Love Story' [VIDEO]

Get ready for yet another stellar BHS Performing Arts show!

It’s a story of forbidden love, says Music Director and Choreographer as students stretch in between rehearsing numbers for the .

“Our kids are fabulous,” said Roding, “and this story will move you and give you hope; it leaves you with some kind of feeling of beautiful light coming into your life.”

Aida is tragic love story where Radames (Noah Perito), the Captain of the Egyptian Army, next in line to take the Pharos’s throne, falls in love with Aida (Katrice Kemble), a captured Nubian Princess. Despite his forbidden love for Aida, Radames is supposed to marry Amneris (Alison Johnson), the Princess of Egypt). A Tony-award winning production, Aida debuted on Broadway in 2000.

A veteran producer of BHS spectaculars, Roding along with Director Toni Cartisano are both excited to bring the music of Tim Rice and Elton John to life on stage. Roding said the driving hard rock score will incorporate reggae, eastern sounds, African drumming and electronic beats. “If you don’t know anything about it, just please, if you know me and over the years,” said Roding, “and if you know Toni Cartisano, trust us on this one. It’s going to be one on the most beautiful experiences you have ever had.”

The all senior lead cast is preparing for opening night, March 21, and have been putting in countless hours of practice both after school and on the weekends for months. Sam Bibbins who will portray Zoser, Chief Minister of Egypt and father of Radames, said it would impossible to count the hours he has spent rehearsing for musicals at BHS over his four years. Of the upcoming show Aida, he said, “We’ve put in an insurmountable amount of work for this show.”

, who portrayed Christine in last year’s spring production of is readying for her last time on the BHS stage as well. “I know it’s going to be a great show she said,” adding that she doesn’t yet know how she’s going to feel about this being her last time performing for the high school. “It’s always interesting,” she said, “to see how everything comes together in the end – you always share the same feelings in the beginning; you’re excited to go. You have so many rehearsals and then all the sudden you are at the show.”
