Branford Churches Raise $5,000 to Provide Thanksgiving for Many

  • November 21, 2011

Press Release

As Thanksgiving approaches, members of many congregations in Branford have been encouraged by their clergy to respond to the needs of local families.  The results have been overwhelming.

The First Congregation Church and The First Baptist Church teamed up through their youth to purchase, pack and deliver over 100 turkeys and 82 bags of Thanksgiving fixings to the Branford Food Pantry

Shoreline Community Church delivered 35 dinners. Working with the Branford Big Y, four churches banded together to purchase 202 complete dinners along with extra staples. Trinity Episcopal Church, Stony Creek Congregational, St. Stephen’s AME Zion and St. Therese’s Catholic Church collected $25 for a meal and $7.50 for the extras and then pooled the results. $5,000 worth of groceries were purchased from Big Y and delivered to the Food Pantry on the Monday morning before Thanksgiving.

The message here is that even in bad times, we can still share and take care of each other.
